Calls to Pitch
MIT Technology Review has shared their latest call for pitches, this time around the theme of ‘Creativity’. “We’re looking for big swings on that general theme: narrative features, essential profiles, investigations, and sharp essays to go in the feature well of the magazine. As always, we’re looking for stories that have a technology angle. The deadline for pitches is Wednesday December 4.” Pays $1-$2/word.
Current Affairs is accepting pitches for new articles on animal welfare and the environment, among other topics. Their submission guidelines are very detailed. Pay is $200 online, $300 in print. Use this submission form to send your pitch.
For Business Insider, Jess is looking for people who have specifically moved from Canada to the US and prefer life in the States for any number of reasons including society, finances, work, retirement, family, diet, health, or otherwise. Paige at Business Insider is looking for frequent cruisers/former cruise employees/etc who have a great cruise tip they learned from experience or a mistake. Rate starts at $230 for 600 words. More info in this thread.
Conz at Business Insider is looking for pitches about the grief of knowing you'll never be a grandparent (because your kids are not having kids) or feeling the pressure as an only child to have kids so your parents can be grandparents. Acacia Mag have shared their latest pitch call. They are especially interested in stories about the history of American Muslim organizing. “What kind of political power have American Muslims built? What lessons can we learn from the history of movements in this country? We are curious about praxis; pitch us stories about how Muslims are organizing around climate change, abortion, immigration, and other issues. What can we learn from social movements in other countries who have organized under much more repressive regimes? For World Cancer Day in February 2025, Inspire the Mind is looking for article pitches from a mental health lived experience perspective for their digital magazine. Submit a pitch via the form on the homepage. Please submit your pitches by the 15th of December. They pay £200 for pieces of 1,000-1,200 words.

The Leicestershire Gazette is a member-funded, community-owned news outlet about Leicestershire.
