The November Round-up: Submission dates, prizes, bursaries and more!
The mega monthly round-up of bursaries, prizes, submissions, webinars, writing retreats and loads more.
Hello, and welcome to the FWNN’s latest monthly round-up!
This month is slightly earlier, as I am looking for a little consistency in when this goes out - hopefully in the first 10 days or so of every month moving forward!
For the rest of November and beyond, I’ve put together a collection of fantastic opportunities for you. These include internships, bursaries, awards, fiction, nonfiction and poetry submissions, writing retreats, webinars, prizes and all sorts.
Whatever kind of writer you are, there’s something for you to explore in this special edition of the Freelance Writing Network.
And a great special offer from George’s Writing Journeys below…
George’s Editing Journey - 25% off Story Feedback!
George’s Editing Journeys is offering 25% off Story Feedback this November if you reference ‘Freelance Writing Network’ when you use the contact form to reach out.
With Story Feedback, you’ll gain insights into what’s working in your manuscript and where it can strengthen. The feedback will encompass everything from the structure and plot to character development to the nuances of your writing style, ensuring your story meets and exceeds reader expectations.
It’s the perfect next step before determining if your novel needs further editing, or if you want more specific and affordable feedback ahead of approaching an agent.
Advertise & Sponsor with the Freelance Writing Network
The Freelance Writing Network is open to new sponsorships and advertisers to help support the newsletter. You can get your business, company, course or product in front of 5000 engaged freelancers and writers.
If you’re interested, please check out the new sponsorship page. I still have some spots left in November and December if you are interested in collaborating.
Deadlines Coming Up…
Caitlin Kelly and Matt Potter’s excellent webinars finish in November this year with ‘The art of the interview: Advanced skills & approaches for journalists’. I can thoroughly and personally recommend any of their webinars having attended them in the past. It’s $35 to take part but this is well worth the investment in developing your craft. This one will be hosted this Sunday, November 10th.
The Screenwriting Weekender (UK), sponsored by North East Screen, is a packed weekend of TV industry talks, workshops and networking aimed at writers who want to improve their screenwriting skills, get industry know how and make new connections. “If you're unable to attend without financial support, let us know by midnight on Sun 10 Nov. Bursary places will then be allocated at random.” Contact by November 10th.
Bloomsbury and Writers & Artists is delighted to confirm the Bloomsbury Academic Writing Fellowship will run for a second successive year.
The purpose of the Bloomsbury Academic Writing Fellowship 2024 is to help early career academics get their book idea into a form which is ready for publication. If you are of African or African Caribbean heritage, based in the UK, and have an idea you would like to develop into an academic book but are unsure where to start, this Fellowship is for you. Closes November 10th.
WritingWorkshops.com have writing retreats in Paris and Sante Fe taking place in 2025. Deadlines for both of these retreats are closing on November 10th.
Half and One welcomes submissions of previously unpublished narrative non-fiction between 1500 and 3000 words.
